El Paso, TX — UTEP’s Anthony Rotich was named Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Co-Athlete of the Week.
In the highly competitive Husky Classic at the University of Washington, Rotich registered a time of 13:44.13 in the 5,000m run to finish eighth overall, good enough for the 11th-best mark in the NCAA this season and best in C-USA. The junior rounded out the classic in the 3,000m run where he clocked in a season best of 7:56.60. His time registers as the 15th fastest time in the nation. The All-American finished sixth overall and is still first in the conference in the event. This is his first Indoor Athlete of the Week honor this season and second of his career.
The track and field team will have two weeks to prepare for the Conference USA Indoor Championships Feb. 28th-March 1st.
