Anthony, Texas (KTSM) — An alleged kidnapper was nabbed in Anthony, Texas Wednesday.
Anthony Texas Police say they were called to the Love's truck stop where they found a distraught elderly man who told them he was kidnapped from Georgia, but was able to escape.
Officers were told that the alleged kidnapper had fled on foot into the desert neighboring the truck stop. Officers caught up with the alleged kidnapper in a wash out area next to Interstate 10.
The alleged kidnapper has been identified as 26-year-old Wando McSwain from Georgia. Anthony PD says that the victim has no known family connection or friendship between his alleged kidnapper. They reportedly had just met in Georgia before McSwain allegedly kidnapped the man.
The victim advised officers he believed McSwain was headed towards Albuquerque, but did not know why. At the time of the discovery at the Love's truck-stop, the victim had not been reported missing from Georgia. APD advises that they believe the victim suffers from diabetes and hypertension, he was taken to Providence Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
Anthony PD turned the alleged kidnapper and the incident over to the El Paso County Sheriff's Department for further investigation. McSwain is charged with kidnapping and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Anthony PD says they will assist the alleged kidnapping victim return to Georgia as soon as he is released from the hospital.
