El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — More than 700 families received food donations after a giveaway Thursday in far East El Paso.
Operation H.O.P.E. (Help Other People Endure) and El Pasoans Fighting Hunger held the event with the help of volunteers in light of recent cuts to unemployment benefits and food stamps.
Among the donations, a bag full of canned vegetables, fruits, bread, milk and even a full-size turkey.
Families waited inside the Kennedy Brothers Apartment Community, 400 S. Zaragoza St., to receive the donations, which were on a first-come, first-serve basis.
