El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Eddy Lopez will rep Ralphie the Buffalo and the University of Colorado for the next 4 years on the football field. The Coronado HS senior will make it official Wednesday when he signs his official letter of intent.
The 6'3", 289 lbs defensive lineman is rated as a three star prospect by Rivals and committed to Colorado back in August. He took his official visit to Boulder last week and confirmed what he already knew... He was destined to become a Buffalo.
"It's relieving because me going to somewhere I am comfortable and somewhere I get treated right was my number one goal for college," said Lopez. "I want to be comfortable when I go up there because I'm going to be on my own. It's relieving to know that's exactly what CU has to offer, a great relationship with the coaches and a great relationship with everyone there."
Eddy says coaches expect him to play his freshman year and eventually play his way into a starting roll.
Two other El Pasoans made their collegiate verbal commitments Wednesday and decided to stay in town. Andress receiver Eddie Sinegal and Montwood receiver Warren Redix will sign with UTEP on National Signing Day. The pair plans to be roommates as well.
