Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) — Las Cruces Police say that the couple responsible for last week's armed robbery at a Sally Beauty Supply at 1455 Hickory Lane have been arrested.
LCPD responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Sally Beauty Supply shortly after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22. A woman, later identified as 34-year-old Christina P. Martinez, walked into the store and allegedly threatened an employee with a handgun. Martinez then allegedly stole cash and merchandise from the store before walking out, heading northbound on foot.
The store employee's description of the armed robber matched the description of Martinez, who has a prior felony conviction. The Sally's employee was able to positively identify Martinez as the suspect who robbed the store at gunpoint.
U.S. Marshals located Martinez and arrested her on Saturday, January 25, near Ruidoso N.M. The federal warrant was for violating terms of her parole.
Police learned during their investigation that Martinez and her alleged accomplice, Joshua Gonzales, 35, conspired to commit the armed robbery and dispose of Martinez' clothes that she was wearing during the crime. LCPD Detectives have since located the clothing and confirmed that they were the ones worn by Martinez during the robbery.
