Fort Bliss (U.S. Army) — The Fort Bliss Regional Industry Day will be hosted by the El Paso Community College’s Contract Opportunities Center, Jan. 29.
The event at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center on East Bliss, Bldg. 11199, will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Representatives of government agencies may attend free of any registration fees and booth space will also be provided free, although they must register in advance. The registration fee for all others to attend is $25. All attendees must register in advance.
Contracting entities from regional government installations and other federal agencies are invited to reach out to contractors, providers and suppliers and make their current and future requirements known. Several government agencies will be available for networking: Department of Homeland Security, Customs & Border Protection, VA Healthcare, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Albuquerque, N.M. and Fort Worth, Texas, districts, MICC-Fort Bliss, Texas Department of Insurance, the Housing Authority of the City of El Paso, the City of El Paso and the Ysleta Independent School District.
Gabriel Camarillo, principal deputy, Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics & Technology), is scheduled to be the keynote speaker. Also, Tracey Pinson, director, the Office of Small Business Programs, Department of the Army, will be moderating a panel of senior acquisition leaders including Harry Hallock, deputy assistant secretary of the Army (Procurement).
Training sessions will also be offered, including: “Crafting a Powerful Capabilities Statement,” “The Benefits and Pitfalls of Teaming Agreements,” the Affordable Care Act, OSHCON, the Department of Labor – Davis Bacon Act, and Terri Reed – El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will provide information on WBE, WOSB and TxHUB certifications.
The luncheon speaker is scheduled to be Paul Mann, senior executive service, executive director, White Sands Missile Range, N.M.
The afternoon general session will include presentations by Fort Bliss Department of Public Works, Fort Bliss USACE-Fort Worth, Deputy Office of Small Business Programs, USACE-Albuquerque, Deputy Office of Small Business Programs and MEDCOM Small Business Programs.
The Contract Opportunities Center is a Procurement and Technical Assistance Center and has been providing specialized technical and professional assistance since 1986. The center has provided assistance to individuals and businesses seeking to learn about contracting and subcontracting opportunities, and how to perform contracts with DoD, other federal agencies, and state and local governments.
Program services include technical, counseling, outreach, bid matching, marketing and referral support.
Counseling and technical assistance is provided free. Among the services offered are client needs assessments, guidance and assistance with the System for Award Management that is required to do business with the federal government, and SBA/DSBS registrations. Seminars and workshops costs can vary.
