El Paso, TX — Janice Jackson earned her first indoor Conference USA Athlete of the Week honor on Tuesday.
Jackson kicked off the 2014 season with two gold finishes at the Lobo Collegiate Open. The senior posted the fastest time in 60m hurdles prelims with an 8.27 finish. In the finals, Jackson secured her first-place finish with a time of 8.20 and beat the runner-up by .23 seconds. Her time is first in Conference USA and tied for sixth place nationally on the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) ranking list. Jackson continued her success as she captured the crown in the 200m dash with a time of 24.37, beating second place by .20 seconds. Her time is the second-fastest in C-USA and among the Top 50 nationally. This is Jackson's first career Indoor Athlete of the Week honor.
