Wednesday, April 21: UTEP Sophomore Forward Arnette Moultrie has made himself eligible for the 2010 NBA Draft. Moultrie spoke to Newschannel 9's Beau Bagley this evening, and told Beau he did not hire an agent, and expects to come back to UTEP. Currently, Moultrie is working out in Memphis, Tennessee, but will be back in El Paso on Saturday to resume workouts and classes. Moultrie told Newschannel 9 that he wants to test the NBA waters, but with the amount of players making themselves eligible, Moultrie fully expects to return to UTEP next season. If Moultrie wishes to come back to UTEP for his junior year, he has until May 8 to withdrawal his name from the draft.
Here is a transcript of the conversation Newchannel 9's Beau Bagley had with Moultrie:
Beau Bagley: We heard some reports that you put your name into the NBA Draft, is that true?
Arnette Moultrie: Yeah, that's correct.
Beau Bagley: So tell me about it.
Arnette Moultrie: I just am going to test the waters, but I will be back at school though.
Beau Bagley: Are you hiring an agent?
Arnette Moultrie: No. I just have been working out. I'll be back at school on Saturday to get my classes straight. I am just down here working out and have workouts here in the coming weeks.
Beau Bagley: You put your name into the draft, was it anything with Tim Floyd here and Barbee leaving?
Arnette Moultrie: No, no... This was my plan all along. That was my plan from the beginning of the season.
Beau Bagley: Ok, what do you think, what have you been hearing and do you think you will come back?
Arnette Moultrie: Yeah, Yeah, I am coming back, I am going back... I am just going to test the waters to get feedback to raise my stock. Right now, my draft stock has dropped because of the season... The season... I didn't have the season everybody thought I was going to have, kind of like mid second round, late second round.
