El Paso, TX — UTEP sophomore Autrey Golden was named to the All-Conference USA second team, the league announced on Tuesday.
The kick returner earned his second All-Conference USAaward; last season he received All-Freshman honors. This season Golden ranks 11th nationally in kickoff return average (27.9) and is tied for second in kickoff returns for touchdowns (two). He is also tied for second among active FBS players with four kickoff returns for touchdowns and his 28.1 career kickoff return average is ranked ninth among current players.
The Willis, Texas, native guided the Miners to rate 11th nationally and second in the league in kickoff returns (24.7). Golden’s credentials don’t stop there as he is the only conference player to have two kickoff returns for 100-yards this season.
The Miners also got some recognition on the All-Conference USA honorable mention team, with Jordan Leslie and Eric Tomlinson making anappearance.
Leslie compiled eight career 100-yard receiving games, tying for the eighth-most in school history. The wide receiver ranks ninth in C-USA in receiving yards per game (51.0) and 58th nationally in receiving touchdowns. The junior registered three consecutive showings this season with 100-yardsreceiving. Leslie led the team in receiving yards and touchdowns.
Tomlinson started all 11 games for the Miners, and he led UTEP tight ends in catches (26) and yards (262). The junior set a career best in catches (eight) and yards (75) and added a touchdown against Colorado State (9/28). The Klein, Texas native posted four catches for 71-yards, including a career-long 28-yard reception at Tulane (11/2).
The league’s individual awards will be released Wednesday.
