EL PASO--- The City of El Paso may have control over the star on the mountain for the next 50 years.
A new contract, if approved Tuesday, would require the City to upkeep the star until April 30, 2060.
El Paso Electric will keep the star running for the next year.
After that, city leaders will have to find other funds in the budget to keep the star shining.
They estimate it costs more than $25,000 to run it each year.
