El Paso, TX (KTSM) — One person was killed in a pileup crash on Interstate 10 involving 10 semi-trucks. Carrasco said initial reports said up to 20 semi-trucks were involved.
According to Sergeant Santos Carrasco with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at 10 a.m. Saturday on I-10, four miles east of the I-20 interchange.
Investigators believe icy roads contributed to the crash.
Several people were taken to area hospital to be treated for their injuries, but Texas State Troopers were still trying to determine the number of people injured. The victim killed in the crash has not been identified.
The westbound lanes of I-10 west near mile marker 192 were shut down. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, they were expected to remain closed past midnight Sunday.
