Hudspeth County, TX (KTSM) — Hudspeth County Sheriff Rusty Fleming has confirmed that at least one lane of eastbound I-10 is closed in Hudspeth County following a fiery crash that has left two people dead.
Thursday morning, a semi-truck carrying cattle overturned on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 77, just past Fort Hancock; allowing the cows to roam I-10. A second semi-truck reportedly came over a hill after the initial incident and hit at least cows.
The driver of the second truck then lost control and went over a viaduct. The truck exploded upon impact, killing both the driver and passenger of the truck. Sheriff's Deputies have been unable to identify either victim.
One eastbound lane is currently open, but may need to be temporarily closed for further cleanup.
Hudspeth Sheriff's Deputies are still investigating the accident and it is unclear if anyone will be facing charges.
