El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — A district court judge has sentenced a mother to 6 months in prison, after having been sentenced to only 10 years probation by a jury last week in the beating of her son.
Judge Anna Perez, 41st District Court, made the decision Monday, which put Annamarie Johnson in custody immediately.
Perez prohibited Johnson from any contact with her now 4-year-old son, who suffered blindness and partial paralyzation as a result of his injuries.
The attack happened in 2010, when the then-infant was hospitalized after suffering injuries to his skull. Investigators say she shook the child and hit him in the head several times.
She had been facing 99 years in prison.
