El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Thanksgiving is only nine days away, and the City of El Paso Department of Transportation (EPDot) is already diligently beautifying Montana Ave. from Ochoa to Copia in preparation for the annual FistLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade on Thanksgiving Day.
Crews are actively painting curbs, hanging parade banners on street lights, erasing graffiti and sweeping the 2.7 mile parade route. The work is done as part of separate agreements EPDot has with the Sun Bowl Association and the Texas Department of Transportation.
“This annual event is a wonderful El Paso tradition. We want to make sure we do our share to beautify the route for the benefit of parade participants and the hundreds of families who line the parade route or watch it at home on their televisions,” EPDoT Director Ted Marquez said.
Beatification efforts take place days before the parade and during the parade. EPDoT will have street sweepers within parade line-up behind the horses and at the end of the line-up to assist with cleanup of the route following the festivities.
