Dallas, Texas (KTSM) — A young El Paso boy lost his battle against a rare heart condition Monday.
Matthew Olivas, Jr., 9, was born with ebstein's anomaly, a defect in the part of the tricuspid valve. "Gordo", as he was affectionately known, was scheduled to have open heart surgery this fall in Dallas, but complications left him needing a whole new heart.
He received an artificial heart Oct. 30.
It is still unknown what caused Matthew's passing.
