LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Dona Ana County will welcome a new county manager at the start of December after a unanimous vote Wednesday by the Doña Ana County Board of Commissioners to finalize a contract with Julia T. Brown.
The board authorized Commission Chairman Billy G. Garrett to complete Brown’s two-year contract that will pay her $130,000 a year.
Brown will replace Interim Doña Ana County Manager M. Sue Padilla, who announced her retirement earlier this year and withdrew her name from the finalists for the job.
Brown and Interim Assistant Doña Ana County Manager Chuck B. McMahon were both finalists for the job and after Wednesday's vote McMahon will remain in his current position.
As county manager, Brown will oversee about 850 employees and coordinate various county departments.
She will begin her new position on December 1st.
