Las Cruces, NM — Junior guard K.C. Ross-Miller hit 10-straight free throws in the last :37 seconds of the game and junior forward Remi Barry scored a career-high 18 points to give the New Mexico State men’s basketball team the boost it needed to defeat Hawai’i 95-88 in the final game of the Outrigger Hotels and Resort Rainbow Classic, Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the Stan Sheriff Center. NM State is now 2-1 on the year, as is Hawai’i.
Junior guard Daniel Mullings, who earned all-tournament team honors, scored a team-high 21 points against the Rainbow Warriors. The last time Mullings scored at least 20 points was on March 7, 2013 during a 78-60 win over Louisiana Tech. He and Ross-Miller combined for an 18-of-24 night at the free throw line.
“The ten free throws in a row K.C. [Ross-Miller] hit could be the difference in the game,” head coach Marvin Menzies said in a postgame interview. “I was really pleased with his performance at the line, especially with the way we started the tournament.”
