Beaumont, TX — An FBI team is looking into possible financial irregularities at Beaumont, Texas Public School District.
Agents arrived at the administration building of Beaumont ISD early Thursday morning.
Visitors to the administration were being turned way by authorities while all employees who work at the building were restricted to a conference room or the cafeteria while FBI agents boxed up evidence.
No one was allowed to go to their office or normal work station.
According to a BISD news release issued after the raid began, the FBI is assisting the U.S. Attorney's Office in an investigation involving allegations of a bogus account and diverted BISD funds.
Not too far away, FBI agens also raided the home of the district's director of finance, Devin McCraney.
The federal probe comes about a week after the Texas Education Agency said it's looking into several potential concerns in the Southeast Texas district.
State Board of Education member, David Bradley, said the state had no idea the FBI raid was coming and the FBI's investigation is not related to the TEA's work.
