The Three Legged Monkey in east El Paso has closed its doors.
Owner Mike Armstrong is leaving his bar in the hands of El Paso City Council. Wednesday, Armstrong delivered a 500 page document to city leaders asking for them to settle for $1.8 million or he'll take his case to federal court and ask for even more.
This all stems back to 2011 when the city attempted to revoke Armstrong's lease at Hawkins Plaza because of complaints from area residents. It led to series of lawsuits and ended in bankruptcy court where a federal judge ruled in Armstrong's favor. News Channel 9 reported last month, Armstrong and neighbors dropped their lawsuits and agreed to absorb their own costs.
However, Armstrong said the city lawsuits have caused him several damages and he just wants to settle so he can continue to run his business.
Calls to city leaders for comment have gone unreturned.
