El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso Police Detectives have arrested and charged 19-year-old Corey Bernard Moss, of Fort Bliss in connection with a brutal stabbing of a pregnant woman in the 4900 block of Wichita on Wednesday night.
According to an arrest affidavit, Moss was inside 31-year-old Rachel Poole's home when she arrived Wednesday evening, when he attacked her with a steel folding knife. Poole, who was on a video call with her husband deployed overseas, yelled out Moss' name so her husband could hear, according to the affidavit.
After the attack, Moss allegedly ran and asked a co-worker to take him back to Fort Bliss, according to the affidavit.
Poole's husband called his co-workers, who then confronted Moss, according to the affidavit.
Poole sustained stab wounds to her face and body and sustained multiple fractures as a result of the attack. She was transported to University Medical Center where she is currently listed in critical condition, and requires surgery. Her unborn child is reported to be in good condition.
Officers say the incident stemmed from a disagreement between Poole and Moss regarding money that Moss owed the victim for vehicle repairs.
Moss allegedly admitted to the attack, according to the affidavit.
Moss has been booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility for Criminal Attempt Capital Murder. His bond is set at $60,000.
