El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The El Paso Chihuahuas have been the mascot for El Paso's triple-A team for exactly twenty-four hours and they continue to dominate the talk around town, on Texas Monthly , Deadspin , throughout social media sites and even got a mention on ESPN's Around the Horn on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite the mixed reaction around town, General Manager Brad Taylor says that sales at the team store have been non-stop all day long and MiLB is reporting that no other team has had higher activity on their site. He reports increased interest in ticket sales, despite the fact that he admits two season ticket holders did request refunds after the reveal.
Taylor says MountainStar Sports has no intention of changing or altering the Chihuahua logo in any way, so fans can feel reassured when buying team merchandise that the Chihuahua is here to stay.
