El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The Department of Public Health, along with multiple local agencies, gear up for an exciting weekend event.
El Paso City Council proclaimed October 24, 2013 Food Day in El Paso.
For several years, the Sun City has been a part of the nationwide effort to promote healthy, affordable, sustainably produced food.
“Food Day is the perfect example of how local groups and private individuals can come together to help improve the food system in our community,” said Sue Beatty, Health Education Manager. “We hope that through education and empowerment we can make healthy, fresh, and affordable food more accessible across the city.”
The third annual Food Day will see thousands of events in all 50 states aimed at promoting healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food.
One special focus of Food Day 2013 will be to encourage children to cook—and to encourage adults who can cook to pass on their skills.
This year’s El Paso Food Day Celebration features free admission and activities for the entire family, and will take place:
