(El Paso) — Sean Kugler knows his team has a problem. The players know there are issues.
Everyone agrees hard work is the way to solve the problem so the Miners went back to work on Tuesday, practicing for Tulsa.
Defense is the problem with UTEP as the Miners are giving up 38.4 points per game. Players are in position to make plays but fail to "wrap up" and tackle.
Kugler once again ordered more tackling drills in practice but admits depth among his defensive players is an issue. That can be rectified with off-season recruiting but for now, it's concentration on tackling fundamentals.
Notes: The Miners received a scare during Tuesday's practice when leading receiver Jordan Leslie rolled his ankle and immediately left the field for treatment. Coach Kugler said the injury was minor and expected Leslie back at practice on Wednesday. The UTEP Coach then paused and said, "let's hope he's back."
