TXDot holding onto $1.6 million CMAQ funds
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — City council decided on Tuesday to move forward with plans for a scaled back bike share program.
The city, UTEP, and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality have already invested a combined $400,000 in the program -- which will consist of six stations between UTEP and downtown. Each will contain 12 bikes.
TXDOT has refused to hand over one point six million dollars in federal money for the program. The Federal Highway Administration has already OK’d the funding – but TXDOT manages the money and so far is not releasing the funds.
