El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — UPDATE 2:14 p.m.: Lockdown is lifted at all 5 schools subjected to a modified lockdown. "All students and staff at these schools remained safe throughout the modified lockdown," said district officials.
Five schools in the Ysleta Independent School District are on lockdown Tuesday morning as a result of reports of a suicidal subject nearby, according to the district's spokesperson.
Parkland High School, Parkland Middle School, Parkland Elementary, Dolphin Terrace Elementary and Parkland Pre-K Center have been put on a modified lockdown as of 8:00 a.m., said spokesperson Pat Ayala. That means they are locking all external doors, and are keeping everyone indoors.
The district is doing so as a precautionary measure, cooperating with El Paso Police, said Ayala.
"Additional YISD security personnel have been dispatched to the Parkland area to ensure student safety, monitor the situation, and work with law enforcement authorities where necessary."
The subject is nowhere on the campuses, she said.
