EL PASO (KTSM) — Police have identified the man killed in a car wreck in Northeast El Paso.
Police said 21-year-old Emmanuel Sustainta was going eastbound on U.S. 54 and Stan Roberts at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of his SUV and swerved off the roadway.
The SUV rolled over several times and landed in a desert area near the highway. Sustainta was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene, according to police. Paramedics took the passenger, 19 year-old Daniel Aguilera to University Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
At this time, investigators believe speed to be a factor in this crash. Investigators have not determined if alcohol was a factor, also.This investigation remains open and anyone with information on this crash is asked to contact police at 915-832-4400.
Special Traffic Investigators closed the highway for several hours during their investigation.
