El Paso, TEXAS (KTSM) — El Paso participated in a sold out TEDx conference Saturday. It's a spin off from the original world wide TED talk series that follows the mission "ideas worth spreading."
The locally and independently organized event themed "Defying Borders" featured different presenters from all over the community talking about their experiences as farm workers, artists, writers and even a skateboarder. The talks were also meant to engage the community and inform about active ways of making change. One UTEP professor talked about the physical science involved in skateboarding and BMX.
"I also think it's really important for people to understand the bi-cultural, bilingual world we live in here on the border because I really think that's the way the rest of the United States and the rest of the world is going," said Dr. Bill Robertson, Ph.D, a professor at UTEP.
