El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The cooler nights and mornings might have you reaching for extra blankets and a sweater.
Not everyone has that luxury and that's why some local organizations need your help.
During her four years at Goodwill, nearly 1.5 articles of clothing have passed through Elena Montoya's hands.
"There are 1,400 pieces that we hang during my shift and it fills up about 9-10 blue bins," she said in Spanish.
Lately, that number seems to be shrinking.
"I'm not so sure why we haven't been getting the donations that we usually get, but I would guess its the time of the year Maybe now it's time for people to go buy their new jacket so hopefully they donate their old one so we can help people in need," said Goodwill Public Relations Director Mark Huerta.
The cold nights are sneaking up on us and that's when people who are financially strapped need the most help to stay warm.
"El Paso is not so great economically so any kind of donation that we get from people goes to good use," Huerta said.
They're trying to raise 50,000 pounds of clothes before Thanksgiving. That's about 33 18-wheelers full.
"It's a big goal, but I know if El Paso puts their mind to it, they can get it done," said Huerta.
