El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — Alzheimer's Disease is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States today. More than5 million Americans have the disease, and the numbers are only expected to skyrocket over the next decade. By 2025, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer's disease is estimated to reach 7.1 million, A 40 percent increase from the 5 million age 65 and older currently affected.
On Newschannel 9 at 6:30, a former Texas State Representative visited our studios to share his first hand story about what it's like living with Alzheimer's Disease, all in advance of the March to End Alzheimer's which is taking place this Saturday at La Vina Winery in La Union, New Mexico.
