LC CrimeStoppers asking for public's help in finding persons involved in incident
Las Cruces, NM — Las Cruces Crime Stoppers and the Dona Ana Sheriff's Office are searching for several people who attacked a deputy at last week's UTEP-NMSU game.
According to Las Cruces Police, a uniformed deputy from the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office was involved in a foot pursuit with a young man who had just assaulted another person.
Officials say as the deputy chased the man through the student tailgate lot, just east of Aggie Memorial Stadium, the deputy tripped and fell underneath a canopy. Before the deputy could get up, he was violently attacked by onlookers who struck and kicked him multiple times.
The deputy was injured and unable to immediately identify any of the group who attacked him.
Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps identify the persons who physically assaulted a deputy during last Saturday’s football game at New Mexico State University.
Anyone with information that can help identify those who attacked the deputy are asked to contact Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
