El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Tanairy Arias, 21, is fighting for her life after being involved in a serious crash.
The crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday on Piedras and Durazno Street in central El Paso.
Police believe Arias was driving on the overpass when she somehow lost control of her car.
The car fell 30 feet before landing in a nearby business.
Paramedics used the jaws of life to free Arias, who was then was rushed to University Medical Center with very, serious injuries.
Police said she was speeding and something may have distracted her before she drove off the overpass. Police said alcohol may have also played a role in the crash.
The public is advised that the northbound lanes of the Raynor bridge have been temporarily closed to allow for repairs, the City of El Paso Department of Transportation announced today.
The repairs are related to the crash. EPDoT crews began repairing the guardrails today and will continue to work on the bridge located just south of Interstate 10 until further notice. The bridge’s southbound lanes will remain open.
Proper traffic control measures will be in place to direct the traveling public through this area for this period. Traffic will be detoured through nearby streets.
