Aggravated Assault "Hijacking"
El Paso - A man pulls his vehicle up to a woman walking in South El Paso, grabs her arm and violently shoves her into the vehicle before driving off with her, making this the Crime Stoppers “Crime of the Week.”
On Tuesday, March 30th, at 2:00 P.M., the victim was walking past the intersection of Kansas and 6th Avenue East when a green Jeep Cherokee pulled up next to her. The driver of the vehicle got out and grabbed the victim by her right arm, which had been previously injured, and pushed her into the vehicle before driving around in the central area. The suspect told the victim in English not to scream and that he wanted sex.
At the intersection of Mesa and 7th, the driver became distracted and the victim escaped from the vehicle. However, the driver also exited the vehicle and again grabbed the victim’s right arm, trying to push her into the vehicle once more. Fortunately, witnesses ran to the victim’s aid. The suspect then put the vehicle in reverse, and fled north on Oregon Street.
The suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic or Anglo man, 28 years of age, 5’08” to 6’00” tall, with a medium build, and long light-brown hair in a ponytail. He was wearing a red cap, white t-shirt, and green or beige shorts. The vehicle was a green, late 1990’s Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows.
