El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso Community College (EPCC) Diversity Programs will hold the fourth annual Buddy Walk at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5th at the colleges Valle Verde campus, 919 Hunter.
The walk raises funds for EPCC scholarships for students with disabilities, the Down Syndrome Association of El Paso (DSAEP) and the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS).
The three-quarter of a mile walk circles the beautiful Valle Verde campus.
After the walk there will be refreshments for sale, door prizes and entertainment, including local jazz greats, Billy Townes and Ruben Gutierrez.
Local business and non-profit organizations will offer information to attendees.
The price for the walk is $20 the day of the event and $15 in advance.
The EPCC Diversity Programs Buddy Walk is one of 300 walks nationally.
October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month.
Down Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that occurs once in every 733 births in the United States.
NDSS is the national advocate for the acceptance and the inclusion of people with Down Syndrome as valued members of the community.
