VADO, N.M. — Residents of a Vado mobile home community along Interstate-10 flooded again Wednesday forcing them to evacuate for the third time this summer.
The community of about 24 residents first flooded in late July and then again in August.
After working to dig out their homes buried in sand and gravel, Wednesday rain washed in more mud burying the mobile homes yet again.
"It's a desperate situation," said resident Maria Elena Lopez.
Lopez said their homes have been damaged on the inside and some have even lost water due to the storm washing away plumbing.
County officials sid the homes are on private property so there's not much they can do for the residents.
The county can help by providing the families a place to stay during storms and connect them to area organizations that will be able to help.
The county opened the community center for families where most said they will stay the night and return home tomorrow and evaluate how much more damage has been done.
