Police: 22-year-old Joel Morales killed; speed a factor in wreck
EL PASO (KTSM) — El Paso Police have identified the driver killed early Friday morning in Northeast El Paso.
Police officials say 22-year-old Joel Morales was killed when he lost control of his late-model Chevrolet Caprice on Dyer Street.
According to investigators Morales was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the Chevy and struck a pole. The full-size sedan was nearly bent in half, the pole embedded in the passenger's side. Officers say that Morales died at the scene.
Investigators say they believe that speed is believed to be a factor in the wreck, however they do not know if alcohol was a factor in this crash.
