El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso City Council approved $1.5 million in funds to support Project ARRIBA. The money will be doled out $300,000 a year for 5 years, that's $50,000 more a year than ARRIBA officials asked for.
The money goes to support students at or below the poverty line in El Paso. The goal is to get more El Pasoans in the medical profession making at least $14 an hour.
"It's just amazing because it will help us go through our education and finish and give back to the community," said Project ARRIBA student Victoria Lopez de Fuentes.
