Horizon - A followup now to a story we brought you in November.
Horizon football coach Michael Madrid was living without any kidneys and he was having a hard time finding a donor.
Madrid's wife Jennifer is deeply affected by his predicament...
"Even things like carrying our son around. The baby's too big and too heavy for him to just carry around."
Michael had one hope...
"I hope to live. I hope to find a kidney and be around."
Jennifer was trying to find out if she was a match so she could donate one of her kidneys because she loves him and because...
"It means I can have my husband back and the kids can have their dad back."
Well Jennifer was a match. And she did give Michael a kidney. It's been three months since the surgery. Michael's life is back on track... In fact he's coaching track...
"I feel great... I woud've never thought this day would come."
"I have my husband back and the kids have their dad back."
Instead of spending three nights a week in a clinic hooked up to a dialysis machine...
"I'm home with my kids playing legos and football and going outside."
He has to take lots of medication and he has to make sure he takes it on time but his quality of life is better than it has been in years.
"God saved his life. I think it's a miracle that I was able to be a match."
"I can walk around... I'm out here coaching."
"I feel like it's a fairy-tale ending. Ya know...it's that happily ever after."
