El Paso, TEXAS (KTSM) — Congressman Beto O’Rourke (TX-16) announced Thursday, that the Enroll El Paso Coalition has been awarded a “navigator” grant by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS).
The grant is meant to assist uninsured El Pasoans in shopping for and enrolling in plans in the Health Insurance Marketplace beginning on October 1st.
The Enroll El Paso Coalition is a collaboration lead by the United Way of El Paso County and other local organizations.
The navigators will offer in-person assistance to individuals, including un-biased information about insurance, qualified health plans, public programs such as CHIP and Medicaid, and available subsidies to pay for insurance. Starting October 1, 2013, consumers will be able to shop for and purchase insurance on new Health Insurance Marketplace exchanges.
