El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — A health report out last week showed substance abuse is one of the biggest health issues in El Paso. Today, several professionals joined together to find solutions.
The Paso del Norte Recovery Oriented System of Care (ROSC) Collaborative hosted its first recovery forum, aiming to bring awareness about what the recovery process is like for those with addiction.
Event organizers say often times, treatment alone is not enough.
"If it has something to do with an economic status, something else having to do with their life, that maybe was not addressed, we'll see them coming back in to treatment," said Xochitl Gamboa, a project manager for the Outreach, Screening, Assessment and Referral (OSAR) program at University Medical Center.
The program offers free screening and treatment referrals. For more information, contact Xochitl Gamboa at (915) 521-7396 or email at XGamboa@umcelpaso.org .
