Oxnard, CA — Sunday night the Cowboys and Dolphins will play in the NFL'S Hall of Fame game... but the Cowboys won't play quarterback Tony Romo.
Romo hasn't been injured or missed any practices during training camp but he had surgery in April to remove a cyst from his back, and they also have a banged up offensive line. Coaches are likely weary of putting Romo back there at the QB position.
Romo said he hoped to play in the game against Miami but he'll go along with coach Jason Garrett's plan. There are four more pre-season games on the Cowboy's schedule this summer so Romo will have plenty of opportunities to get sharp before the first real game..... September 8th against the Giants.
The Cowboys play their second pre-season game next Friday at the Oakland Raiders. Sunday night's NFL Hall of Fame game can be seen on NBC at 6:00pm MT.
