El Paso, TX (KTSM) — A family of five escaped an early morning fire in El Paso's Upper Valley.
Firefighters responded to the fire inside the West Side Neighborhood Market on Westside Dr. shortly before 6:30 a.m. Friday.
Neighbors dialed 9-1-1 after they saw smoke coming out of the air conditioning unit on top of the roof.
The family was asleep inside the home that is connected to the back of the grocery store.
The grocery store sustained smoke damage throughout.
Battalion Chief George Medina said they all escaped safely, but one person went back into the house to get a dog.
A young woman at the scene said it was her mother who went back in.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and damages are estimated at $50,000.00.
