El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso's new Bishop is in Brazil, Thursday night, to visit Pope Francis during the pontiff's first trips overseas since being elected.
Bishop Mark J. Seitz left El Paso, Tuesday, with a group of local teens. The bishop has been tweeting out some pictures of his trip to Brazil.
One of his pictures he says, he has meet several people from El Paso and Dallas.
Pope Francis has been in Brazil since Sunday.
He visited a Rio de Janeiro slum in a violent area known to locals as the Gaza Strip earlier today and he was welcomed by an enthusiastic crowd as he passed through in the popemobile.
He stopped to kiss and bless locals before going into a small local chapel where he blessed a new altar.
Afterwards he was given a scarf of his favorite soccer team, San Lorenzo.
