El Paso, TEXAS (KTSM) — A local park is getting a makeover and today neighbors in the area got a first look at the plans.
The City of El Paso held a meeting to explain the changes residents can expect at Sunset Heights Park. Those plans include a new playground, upgraded landscaping, rubberized tile to replace the sand and a shade structure. The park will be closed for four months during construction and the good news is no street closures are expected.
"The renovation of this park is just another sign of why its all good in El Paso, a lot of good things are happening, a lot of momentum. The funding from this isn't coming from the quality of life funds but it just shows there's a lot of momentum moving forward in El Paso," said Sunset Heights resident Steffen Poessiger.
The $300,000 funding for the project comes from a community development block grant.
