El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Like anyone suspicious of a good thing, UTEP Miner basketball fans have been anxiously awaiting confirmation that prize freshman Isaac Hamilton has safely arrived on campus. Things became more panicked when the entire incoming class enrolled in the first summer academic session with the exception of Hamilton.
Even current UTEP players were in the dark as to why the 5-star prospect had yet to arrive on campus. Junior point guard CJ Cooper tweeted this week:
Now with the second session underway and still no Hamilton, it was time to find out why the McDonald's All-American has yet to arrive in the Sun City.
NewsChannel 9 has learned that Hamilton is still in his hometown of Los Angeles working through family issues. He tweeted a message to Miner fans Thursday evening saying:
While in LA, he will continue working out and will not enroll in summer school. UTEP officials told NC9 that the four players who took the first summer school session returned home for the second session. They, along with Hamilton, will return in the Fall for the start of the 2013-14 semester.
