EL PASO, TX (KTSM) — Former County Judge Anthony Cobos pleaded not guilty last week in a federal bribery case but
he tried to have the indictment thrown out completely.
Cobos was indicted in 2011, accused of taking bribes to get certain clients of his co-defendant, Lorenzo Hilario Aguilar, contracts to refinance county debt.
In a motion to dismiss the charge, Cobos' attorney said there was not enough evidence to prove he took bribes. Judge Frank Montalvo has yet to rule on the motion.
