LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The annual 4th of July Electric Light Parade in Las Cruces brought out thousands of spectators to enjoy a night of brightly decorated floats Wednesday night.
A tradition all in itself, the parade also brought the rain for yet another year but it didn't damper people's spirits.
"It's nice spending time with my family," said Veronica Holguin.
Nearly 50 floats lit up the night sky and delighted the thousands of spectators lined up along city hall and into the heart of downtown.
At about 9:30 p.m. almost on cue, the rain kicked up and sent spectators back to their cars in search of cover.
The Independence Day celebration continues Thursday at the Meerscheidt Recreation Center on Hadley Ave.
