El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The 9th annual Rally on the River was held Wednesday to help keep teens out of trouble.
The Rio Grande Safe Communities Coalition along with many other local agencies gathered at Ascarate Park in recognition of the United Nation's "International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking" in efforts to build a better and safer border.
Organizers of the event say marijuana and alcohol use are a growing problem among teens in El Paso.
The rally offered a number of fun activities to show kids they can have fun without having to resort to using drugs.
The teens who come out usually have so much fun that they return the following year to volunteer.
This year 300 kids volunteered to help to a part of the Rally on the River.
