Silver City, NM (KTSM) — Firefighters continue to battle the massive wildfire burning in southern New Mexico's Gila National Forest.
The Silver Fire has grown to 125 square miles and is expected to keep expanding. The fire remains at 20 percent contained.
It already has charred more than 81,000 acres, expanding 10,000 acres overnight.
Fire personnel say a red flag warning was in place late Monday night for hot, dry, and windy conditions.
Lighting started the blaze June 7th. There are currently no evacuations in effect.
Silver Fire information meetings are held at 10 a.m. daily at the Hillsboro Community Center.
