El Paso, TX — Diablos hit back, with a dominating 8-3 win over the Sioux Falls Canaries and take a 2-1 series lead over Sioux Falls going into the Sunday finale.
Giving up two runs in the top of the first inning wasn't part of the Diablos game plan, but they settled in and slowly dominated the game. In the Second inning the Diablos came back with five runs of their own, thanks to Oscar Mesa, Thomas McAlpine, and Maikol Gonzalez RBIs.
After a two run first inning starting pitcher Luis Chirinos settled into a grove going 5.2 innings, only giving up three runs, on eight hits, with four strikeouts. The Diablos came up with some more insurance runs to pad their lead in the fifth and seventh inning to go up 8-3, which happened to be the final score.
Left fielder Oscar Mesa was the player of the game for the Diablos going two for three with 2 RBIs in the game. The Diablos now move to 9-25 this season with one more game against the Sioux Falls Canaries in the series finale, the game is tomorrow night, 6:05 here at Cohen Stadium!
