Doña Ana County (KTSM) — Water users within the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority should immediately begin conserving water. A well within the service system has failed, which will likely lead to system-wide water outages later this evening.
The well was online when a wind event caused a power outage in the area. When the power came back on, the well did not resume pumping. Crews are on scene, and the well could be repaired as early as tomorrow, however utility users are advised to immediately implement and maintain a strict conservation schedule until the well repairs have been confirmed and the system is once again fully pressurized.
The Camino Real Regional Utility Authority provides water service for the City of Sunland Park and most of the unincorporated areas in and around the Santa Teresa County Club and the Santa Teresa Port of Entry. The outages and conservation warnings apply to all users of the system.
Questions and concerns can be directed to the Camino Real Regional Utility Authority offices at (575) 589-1075.
